Where can I find … ?

Where is there a Post Office nearby?

There’s a mail box (not a station) at the west end of the shoppette at E. Alameda Ave. and So. Dayton Street.

Pelican Pointe’s postal carrier is based out of Sullivan Station, 303-221-5209, 8700 E Jefferson Ave, Denver, CO 80237), but there are several other stations close by, including:

  • Glendale Station, at S. Bellaire St. and E. Kentucky Ave. in Glendale
  • Montclair Station, 303-333-2195, 8275 E 11th Ave, Denver, CO 80220 (north of Lowry on 11th Ave).
  • Buckingham Station, E. Mississippi Ave. at Ironton St., just north of the north entrance to the Havana Gardens shopping center.

What about … ?

What is our process for snow removal?

Snow shoveling is handled by an independent contractor, according to a snow plan which accommodates any resident with special access needs.  Their contract calls for removing snow at 2 inches on sidewalks and at 4 inches on driveways.  They will plow the driveways after shoveling snow away from the garage doors.

What are we doing about our coyotes, foxes, rabbits, snakes, skunks, raccoons, and squirrels?

These animals scurry (or walk boldly) through our common areas “as if they own the place.” As a legal and practical matter, they are virtually uncontrollable (unless they settle in your attic). Be careful if you are walking your small pet.

What if I want to enlarge my patio?

The Design Review Request form is simple, and is available by clicking here, but it must be accompanied with a drawing which shows, in reasonable detail, the measurements and site of your proposed expansion.

What if my houseguest and his/her car are staying for more than 72 hours?

Refer to our Rules governing parking, available by clicking here. Special permission to park in our Guest Parking spaces, exceeding 72 hours, can be obtained from our Manager, jean@weststarmanagement.com. However, a guest staying on a semi-permanent basis is no longer deemed a guest, for parking purposes.

What if my incoming water line, in my crawl space, bursts?

This can occur, in very cold weather. Immediately, turn off your master incoming water valve, located just inside your crawl-space trapdoor, and call your plumber. You should “test” that valve as soon as you read this, to be sure it hasn’t calcified and still works perfectly. Consider replacing the obsolete knob-type valve with the modern in-line model.

What if a school bus is dropping kids off across the street on Fairmount Drive? Am I prohibited from turning left or right onto Fairmount?

Colorado law doesn’t explicitly require a motorist who is approaching a school bus at right-angles (i.e., at an intersection, or exiting from Pelican Pointe) to stop. However, based on the facts that many who live here have experienced — when a stopped school bus is across the street from our exit, on the eastern corner of the entrance to our neighboring community — it would be the better part of wisdom to stop as if you were driving behind or facing the bus.
